What is Hard Relining?

Hard relining should be done every two (2) years on full dentures . During the hard relining, the dentist would be removing some of the plastic that is in located in the inside of the dentures. After removing some of the plastic, then the dentist would be replacing it with this soft materials (you can think of putty that is soft). After it has been placed inside of the mouth, it would turn into this hard rubbery consistency. After it has been removed, it will have the form of the gums. Then it would have to be sent to a lab for
the impression can be replaced with hard acrylic that is pink.

The pink hard acrylic would be original to the impression material. Then the dentures would be returned to office for the patient can be fitted to make sure everything is ok with the impressions. The main part, that the dentist is looking for when the dentures are being fitted, after they come back from the lab, is that there is maximum contact between the tissue and the suction. Also, to make sure they conform to the contours of the mouth. If everything is okay, then you go home with your new dentures. If not then, the denture's might have to be resent to the lab for any type pf adjustments.

In some dentist office, they can do everything in one day. The patient would have to go to the office in early morning (right around the time they open) to get the impression. Then the patients leaves with out their dentures until later. Then, sometimes after the office comes back from lunch, the patient will show up to get fitted with the new dentures. Both appointments happen in the same day.
